03/25/10 Do You Play a Horse Regardless of Price?
If you do, you're on the way to being a loser. Every race is different, but in every race, there should be a point of "no return" when it comes to settling on a given horse.
A play at a certain price and no play when it goes much below that. And a play when the odds are way inflated even if the form on others looks better.
Bob Selvin offers a hand crafted fair odds line in his daily analysis which takes into consideration a number of factors that are not always apparent. He clearly explains veering off his selection for the race if the odds are deflated for higher value overlays.
A perfect example was Thursday's (1st) when his 5/1 contender Quillotano paid an absurd $49.60...$49.60! The crowd "falls in love" way too often as it did in the first race today. Click How We Did in Recent Past Days to see Selvin's fair odds and more.
